Teeth in ancient Greek coins

On this Greek coin of the sixth century B.C the grotesque teeth of the mythical Gorgon are an  important symbol of her power to dispel evil influences.
Animals bare their teeth to frighten their enemies.Men of primitive tribes sharpen their teeth in imitation of beasts of pray!
