TOOTHACHE , TOOTH ABCESS AND SWOLLEN CHEEK !!!

An Arabic dentist of the thirteenth century A.D is caring for a patient with toothache.Apparently he has prescribed the medicinal plant growing at his feet for her relief.
The symptom of an abscessed tooth  is usually severe and continuous toothache which  results in a throbbing pain or sharp or shooting pain .An abscessed tooth is a painful infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and a tooth. It's most commonly caused by severe tooth decay. Other causes of tooth abscess are trauma to the tooth or problems with the gums.
Infected teeth can be VERY SERIOUS! If left untreated, believe it or not, they can cause HOSPITALIZATIONS and CAN BE LIFE THREATENING!!!
In order to treat dental infections, the source of the infection needs to be addressed, as well as the bacteria present that are causing the swelling. The tooth will likely either need to be rootcanal treated  or in worse case extracted  and the infection may need to be incised and drained.Infections do not clear up overnight so antibiotics will likely be involved  to help to manage the swelling and kill off the bacteria causing the infection.
